[Map] Prison


To counter the dungeon map i uploaded recently here is a more modern prison setting.

it has 2 version, lit and unlit, the preview pics have the tonemap scaled up quite a bit so its darker in game.

info for nerds:
You can create animsets for the doors, here's how:

  • Jump in game
  • record for some amount of time
  • create new animset for existing and the doors should appear in the list.

It works in Gmod.

If the doors are missing when you start the map, jump ingame and noclip to somewhere in the map.

Really cool map! Got a weird bug with the lighting on the reflective models though ![enter image description here]( "enter image title here") I've never seen anything like this before so I'm if it's a problem on my end.

I'm getting bright colored reflections off the bars anyway to turn that off?

mat_specular 0 in the console to temporarily fix it. A more permanent fix is for Pipedude to make sure there are env_cubemaps placed in the map, and then to launch the map in Alien Swarm (I believe), use the *buildcubemaps* command, and then upload the BSP out of Alien Swarm (buildcubemaps directly edits the BSP that is loaded).

Yeah Alien Swarm is good for that, free, fairly small sized game, easy to just load up maps and build the cubemaps for.

Right I know what happened, version 1 had its cubemaps built in SFM and Gmod didn't like it, so now its the opposite, I built them in Gmod and SFM doesn't like it.

I had the same problem.. BUT some good has come out of this. I've had a lot of other maps I really liked but this same color problem occurred in. Maybe that mat_specular 0 command will work for them.
