Description

A basic beachhouse scenery map for SFM purposes.

  • Environmental Lighting [HDR] Added
  • Interior & Hottub Lighting Added
  • Water Displacement Reflections & Bathroom Mirror Reflections Bugs Expected

I ported this map from an Garry's Mod map. (gm_coolhouse)

I removed all the useless entities, fixed textures & errors, and enabled HDR during the final compression. There's static props, environmental lighting, interior beach-house lights, as well as lights in the hot-ttub.

I wanted to make a no-light version, but I honestly spent hours trying to figure it out and gave up in the end.

Invisible Entities: If you're wondering why some rocks, or the tree-logs, doors, mirror, et cetera are missing, just enable "Other Entities" in SFM, by right-clicking your view port and selecting them.

Note: Far as I know, it doesn't require anything as all the maps extra assets are included inside of the BSP, unless I misunderstood how compiling works, the original author said you may need Counter-Strike Source.

Yeah, I didnt port the Counter-Strike Source assets into the map's BSP. Except one entity, which was the "light_security" prop-static from CSS map. If I did that, then the .BSP would be much larger. I recommend having CSS & HL2 installed and linked to SFM's directory, for use of all the Source games' assets.

@MaestroShiranui That's strange, was it a new project, before you loaded a map? And did it crash instantly? Should just be a BSP file in the ZIP that you place into your "maps" folder in "usermod". Not quite sure what could cause that. Might take a minute to load.

@MaestroShiranui I'm still workin' on the map, I mean it's completed, just I want to add more to it. Anyways maybe I will just recompile it, and add the materials & models folders externally to be imported along with the .bsp map file. I feel like it might be crashing due to missing file issues, though I thought I fixed all that stuff... I'd have to check the console again. Lemme know if you fix the issue.

I just added the "basic" version of the map, without the materials/models and other external files when de-compiling the original GM map, re-compiled into it. Maybe that will prevent the crashing or other conflicts.

its not working properly, when i go to "draw game entities - other entities", i got error messages everywhere

Glad to have a better Beach map than the one I had found from Garrysmod.org that actually managed to work. Really like the beach house, I'll have fun scenebuilding it at some point for my scenes! :D I would be fully behind anyone interested in creating a sunset or night version of this. I happen to like pre-lit maps in SFM when it can be used an effective fill light with the scene and this one was handled well after I had used it for one.

There was a version of this map on Garry's Mod, but when I ported it I got the same thing, Stuntman. I think it needs CSGO assets, but I could be wrong.

@Deadbolt107 I already have been working on a night version, as well as a no-lights version, but my primary concern is expansion of the map itself, adding additions to the beach/island, as well as fixing the water displacement issues. Not sure when I will get around to finishing it though.

@PatrickGainher Yeah, I'm not using yours... ERROR signs where the boulders are.. and the light above the front door. Props missing, that I had made dynamic "Other Entities" with SFM Textures actually missing that I never had a problem with before in and around the outdoor pool/hottub. That plus I have been working on a re-work of the whole map itself by extending it's skybox and ocean, and better beach/shore area... But still having water displacement issues.

I'm officially declaring this project as incomplete and inactive, as I never gotten around to finishing it, and haven't worked on it in months. Any errors or issues will have to be directly fixed by those having those particular issues.

the only problem i have is this one error outside, under the window that forbids me from making posters or shots on the second floor, the light is whats missing and i dont see any files mentioning that outdoor light, i'd appreciate some help here please
