If you can't get these skins working after reading the guide and the comments below, I won't be able to offer any further assistance.

I am aware that the included session files have a good chance to cause SFM to crash for a lot of people. I'm trying to figure out a work-around. Right now, if the session file crashes SFM for you, you'll just have to go through the guide and head-hack the model yourself. Sorry about that!

Custom skins for Vaako's Soria Model. These skins were designed to match some of the "overhauled" MLP pony models available for SFM and GMod. You can find links to the pony models I used in the guide that is included in the download.

Pony skins:

  • Fluttershy
  • Applejack
  • Rainbow Dash
  • Luna
  • Cadence
  • Celestia
  • Chrysalis

Pre-built Anthro Ponies:

I have included an SFM save file that has all 7 ponies already head-hacked. This save file requires all of the models listed above under "Requirements". If it crashes SFM for you, you'll have to do the head-hacking yourself. This should save a massive amount of time because instead of head-hacking an anthro pony EVERY time you want to make a new scene with them, you can just load this file and delete the items you don't want. You can delete any ponies you don't want. You can delete/hide the cocks if you don't want them. You can hide the tails/wings with bodygroup options or scaling. Then, you can unload the stage map and load the map of your choice. From there, you begin posing/animating. See the guide for more information.

  • Original Soria model/texture: Vaako-7
  • Horse cock model: Shaotek
  • Chrysalis's corset: LordAardvark

@MikeyMack Alright then, thank you for the response. My quest continues.

The premade session included crashes SFM for me when I try to load it, even though I have everything needed for it.

@mikeymack, just to make your remotely not difficult installation clear : i downloaded like 4 files, install them, place soria in a map, edit her in the element viewer, input the good file names, giving the good textures names, then headhacked the model following somebody else instructions in 12 steps (that i will skip), and download/install other skin head files. when i want to have the skins i will have to save the skined headhacked soria/ponnies in a map, then when I want ponnies, I have to close my work in progress, open the ponnies saves file, get the ponnies, close the files, open my work in progress, copy the ponnies, then save, reboot SFM (because of memory leak) then open my work again. "it's not even remotely difficult"... maybe for someone who does that kind of thing all the time. may i suggest to make your ponnies models, not skins with remotely separated hacked downloadable models heads. it's sad because i loved your horsecock's idea verry effective way to custom colors on a model.

Mickey, Wonderfully done :) But i must say this is hard to remember all the time and maybe you should just convert them one by one over a Soria model. Like they are all standalone models this is creepy and takes time to do everytime. Im really hoping you will release them as standalone models :) Cheers

@Briffault Unfortunately until someone actually joins the pony heads with the Soria body (or another model's body) in Blender or another 3D editing program, this is as good as it gets. I tried to make it easier by including the session file but even that doesn't work for some people. @SynjoDeonecros I'm sorry but I don't know why it's causing SFM to crash for you. The only reason I can think of is that 7 Soria models in one SFM map is really hard on your computer. You can always spawn one Soria model and follow the guide to head-hack the anthro pony on your own.
Reply • Dec. 13, 2014, 9:22 p.m. -  MikeyMack
@Everyone - I did this on my computer and had no issues at all with memory leak, SFM crashing, or any of the other issues everyone is having. I'm sorry that I misled you into thinking it would be an easy process, **but for me it was.** When I included the premade ponies save file I was expecting people to be able to use it BEFORE setting up a scene. You load the session, delete anything you don't want, then unload the map and load a new map and start posing. That really isn't difficult. HOWEVER, since it seems to be impossible for everyone else (I'm not bashing your computer's hardware or anything, I just honestly didn't know the premade session was so intense on CPU power/memory/etc. because I didn't experience any issues) I realize that uploading these skins was a mistake. @OrbitalDeseption I agree that making each pony its own separate model would be much easier for the user, but the truth is I just don't have that much time/desire to merge ALL of the pony heads onto the Soria model in Blender. Not to mention Vaako is unhappy with this release, and I'm not going to piss him off further by stealing his model to use with the pony heads. If anything, I would want to create realistic human faces for each pony, but I'm not skilled enough at modeling in Blender to do that. So at this point I'm done with these skins. Sorry guys, I was just trying to share the MLP love but people don't want to take the little bit of extra effort it requires to get them working. This is going to come off as rude, but I don't care. Go make your own MLP skins.

@SynjoDeonecros @ksrot did you download the Cadence/Chrysalis models I linked in the guide? Those should be the exact same ones I used, so they should work. By the way, the Chrysalis texture issue was my fault. I'm uploading a new version now and it should fix that.

To give some perspective, my 6-7 year old PC can only load session 1 with the 3 ponies. The other 2 instantly shutdowns SFM without warning. But otherwise they work fine.

Haha yeah that was the problem. But Applejacks head is kinda pink. Dunno why
Reply • Dec. 13, 2014, 6:55 p.m. -  ksrot
@Brunovsky Did you even read the guide, or the other comments? I'm almost positive you didn't download the pony models I linked to in the guide, or that BearedDoomGuy linked to right above in the comments. Like I said, this isn't just a plug and play installation, but it's not even remotely difficult if you just follow the guide.
Reply • Dec. 14, 2014, 5:11 p.m. -  MikeyMack
@Munamauno yeah I built my computer last Christmas so it's relatively new. I guess that's why it works for me, but I am aware that the session file is a resource hog. I'm trying to think of a solution for this, if anyone has any ideas let me know! As of right now the only thing I can think of is separating each model into its own session file. That's really inefficient, though, and you still wouldn't be able to use the ponies together, since they're in separate session files, right?
Reply • Dec. 13, 2014, 11:55 p.m. -  MikeyMack
I manage to make this work but they have no head... trying to install for 20 minutes now (i'm not experienced installing skins like this). Now voting down and removing, will download again and vote up if easier to install... like if they have their own working model. looks great on screenshots.
Reply • Dec. 14, 2014, 12:30 a.m. -  brunovsky
So it says it work for Gmod yet it doesnt' Right? So misleading. *Did you follow the guide* Yes but of course its only for SFM so how to switch "materials" is impossible. :P Happy to see something for gmod involving ponies and very good looking ones to be mislead.
Reply • Dec. 23, 2014, 4:42 p.m. -  Bacon
@pyrowv Because I didn't make her yet. I figured I might as well release the skins I currently have instead of forcing people to wait around for me to finish the others. @SynjoDeonecros Does SFM give you an error when it crashes or does it just exit without warning? The only thing I can think is that maybe all the models take up too much memory... Try these files: I split 3 ponies into "anthro ponies 1" and the other 4 into "anthro ponies 2" so maybe it won't take as much memory when it loads. Is anyone else having issues opening the prebuilt anthro ponies session?
Reply • Dec. 13, 2014, 5:12 p.m. -  MikeyMack
Awesome job, but I think I'll wait until there's no longer 3000 steps to take in order to use these.
Reply • Dec. 13, 2014, 8:01 p.m. -  Briffault
@Bacon Read the fucking description. It doesn't say it's compatible with Gmod; it says the skins *were designed match* the appearance of the overhauled pony models available for Gmod and SFM. > These skins **were designed to match** some of the "overhauled" MLP pony models available for SFM and GMod.

@ MickeyMack It just exists without warning. I'll try the new files.
Reply • Dec. 13, 2014, 6:05 p.m. -  SynjoDeonecros
And now none of the sessions will load without causing SFM to shut down. I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm not too happy with this.
Reply • Dec. 13, 2014, 8:29 p.m. -  SynjoDeonecros
That worked, sorta; all of the models besides Cadance and Chrysalis loaded without error; Cadance is missing the head, and Chrysalis is missing the body texture and the head is glitchy. And the program crashed shortly after I saved the file, so I have no idea what's going on... ![Error for Anthro Ponies]( "enter image title here")
Reply • Dec. 13, 2014, 6:17 p.m. -  SynjoDeonecros
All of my characters are missing their heads when I load the save. Like Cadence in the screenshot from Synjo.
Reply • Dec. 13, 2014, 6:29 p.m. -  ksrot
@MickeyMack: Shame. It seems to be a problem with the princesses, on my end; I can load the scene with just Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash just fine, but when I try to load the one with just the princesses, or the full scene with both the normal ponies and the princesses, that's when the thing crashes on me. Then again, it was the princesses that were glitching up on me, before, and not the other ponies, so maybe you should look into that before giving up?

@Legoguy9875 By all means go ahead. I was a bit rushed in making the tutorial because I just wanted to get the skins out. I would have preferred to make a comic-style tutorial but 1) I don't really know how and 2) I'm lazy! If you end up making one, send me the link and I'll include it in the main post. Thanks man!

I have to say, while the pack itself is a bit limited, that tutorial for skinning anthro models is REALLY helpful! It saves a lot of time in making them. Would it be okay if I translated that tutorial into a comic-based tutorial on DA? I'll be sure to credit you for the technique. I want to be able to share this with others :)

Well... I got everything. The models, the materials, the whole nine yards... but for whatever reason, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy's heads and wings are missing... they have errors instead. My question is how is it that I got the overhaul ponies and have it all in the files, but yet, SFM decides to troll by leaving errors for Fluttershy and Dash's heads and wings... any idea on how to fix the errors?

i'm applying the $basetexture to the privates, arms, and legs of soria. However after i copy the directory of the mtlName and add "_[ponyname]" the textures become missing the black and pink checkerboard "missing texture" texture. I triple checked the file names and that they're in the correct places, but nothing seems to be working. What do?
